This elegant hotel forms part of the huge City Palace complex high above the lake, the remainder of which houses a palace museum and accommodation for royalty. Although the non-lakeside rooms are very good, if you are able to it is well worth paying R10,000 & tax per night extra for a lake view roo

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. The staff were unfailingly helpful and efficient. The public rooms, bar, and restaurant were superbly furnished and exuded an air of uncompromising luxury. Our bedroom was adequate but nothing special, and we found the old fashioned padlock on the door quaint but
