Full fledged renovation work is going on in the side wing of the hotel. To be fair to the hotel, they did offer a room away from this area, but that room was several steps below the Reception and Restaurant area. We therefore opted to stay in the area being renovated. 1. Pinewood hotel in its heyday was the most sought after acco for the discerning travellers to Shillong. But with the state government grip on it, decay have set in since long. I stayed here for 02 nights ie on 14-15 February 2020. I was accompanied with my two friends. We were allocated three rooms 62, 64 & 66. All rooms were cozy, quaint and attractive. We got a great deal around Christmas time and managed to book 3 of the suites in the front of the hotel. The rooms were, huge, with lovely dressing areas, and large bathrooms. The hotel is a heritage property, built in 1898 & is well preserved in it's original form. But sadly it's in urgent need of renovation. The presidential room was huge, approx 600 sq. Ft. But otherwise poorly maintained. Dull & old furniture with dark upholstery give the room a gloomy look. Dressing

The property was very good.a delight for family travelers.only bcoz we traveled with our 75 + old mother,it was slightly difficult going from our room to the dining hall every time as it was incessantly raining and the roadway leading to the dining hall is uncovered (major part). Staff was very nice

Pinewood hotel is such a prestigious and Heritage hotel run by the state government and is very well maintained . And is really good to see young mangers handling the show, all the staffs are well disciplined and very polite, good food good service all A1 . BUT 1 thing disappointed was the front off

Insect found in food, extremely bad food quality, manager is clueless and doesn’t know how to help customers. Not well maintained as well. We travelled here in May 2023 and had a very bad experience.
